The purpose of this lesson is to highlight to students where to locate the RTÉ player on the RTÉ website. It will guide users through the site and familiarise them with its functions.
Suggested Actions
Ask your student to open the Internet and type the address www.rte.ie into the address bar
Show your student where the RTÉ player is located on the RTÉ homepage
Ask your student to click on the RTÉ player tab
Explore the RTÉ player web page explaining the following
- latest programmes
- calendar (to choose a day)
- search box
Ask your student to click on the link to a programme they want to watch
Ask your student to click on the play button
Explain the RTÉ player video controls
- play/pause
- volume
- progress bar
- full screen
Ask your student to click on the home button to take them back to the RTÉ player homepage
Activity - watch the news
- open the Internet and type www.rte.ie into the address bar
- click on the RTÉ player
- click on the link to the news
- play/pause/stop the video
